CONCEPT STUDY. FOAM & FOLD is a designed brand, not a real client. The work shown demonstrates how we'd build a brand for a mid-century-modern car wash and laundry in suburban Melbourne.
The local service that feels like it belongs in your neighbourhood. Wash, press, done — the way a Saturday morning should feel.
FOAM & FOLD is the kind of local service that earns a permanent place in the weekly routine. The brand is mid-century-modern — warm cream, mustard, teal, an italic serif that feels optimistic without being twee. The kind of brand a discerning neighbour recommends by name: "Just go to Foam & Fold."
The brief we wrote for this concept: build the brand a thoughtful local-services operator would commission if they wanted the car wash to feel like a destination, not a stop. The brand should be the kind of thing a passing pedestrian photographs and posts, not the kind of thing they ignore.
Constraint: nothing in the brand should signal "cheap." Mid-century-modern visual vocabulary — warm tones, italic serif, geometric shapes — applied with the discipline of a 2026 studio to a category that has historically under-designed itself.
"Just go to Foam & Fold. Trust me."
Wordmark in an italic geometric serif (think Fraunces Italic). Palette: warm cream, mustard, teal, a single coral for the laundry-basket mascot. Type: italic display for headlines, sans for body. Mascot: a friendly laundry basket with eyes — designed, not childish, the kind of mark that ages well. Photography: sunny, suburban, real cars and real towels.
Storefront sign in cream and mustard, paper bag with the wordmark in teal, a loyalty card stamped with a custom brass die, branded receipt with the mascot peeking. Social templates in the same palette. The collateral is the brand in the customer's hand — it should feel like a small gift every time.
FOAM & FOLD is a concept study. Not a real client. Not a shipped engagement.
